Why is Feta Awarded PDO Status?

Authentic Greek Feta must be made up of at least 70% Sheep’s Milk and must originate from specific regions of Greece, including Macedonia, Thrace, Epirus and the Peloponnese.

Greece’s ecological richness, with over 5,500 recorded species of flora, including 1,000 endemic species, contributes to the unique flavour of feta. This biodiversity, along with special sheep and goat breeds, imparts the distinctive aroma and taste that makes Greek Feta so special.
